About Riverside
As its name implies, Riverside lies adjacent to the River Taff, and was incorporated into Cardiff in 1875. Sophia Gardens opened in the same year.Ivor Novello was born in Cowbridge Road.
The Taff often breached its banks, flooding Riverside often. As a result of Council intervention, the last flood was in 1979.
