History
The original brewery was founded on this site in 1713. The brewery + site pubs were bought by Brains in 1882, with the Albert pub (built in 1872, rebuilt 1910) residing on the current front section of the Yard, and the brewery on the rear section. Upstairs were the brewery offices.Beer was brewed here up until 1999. It became the Yard in 2003.

A large, very modern looking pub, and a torch bearer for Brains. There is a metallic theme to the decor, including fabulous brass piping framing the rear bar, as a memorial to the old brewery. There is a mix of seating arrangements, with plenty for dining from the extensive, high quality menu. This necessarily attracts families, and those tempted by food that can be cooked at your table, with night times appealing to customers of all ages, youngsters more so when DJ's are in operation.
The rear section of the pub is very sunny thanks to large windows opening on to the brewery quarter - a square of high quality restaurants.
They also have small and large function rooms for hire, with conference facilities available.
