History

The Royal Oak is one of 2 cottages on the site, and dates back to the 1700's.

Extended at the rear in the 1950's, creating a lounge and cellar.

Had a snug in the 1960's, apparently dominated by two string minded ladies.

Became a Hancocks pub in the 1970's.

Inside

This is best described as a Working man's pub, with a community ethic, but it also gets a real mix of customers, including Solicitors.

It has a traditional look and feel.

Unusually, the place buzzes to live Jazz music on Sundays.

The rear Car Park is accessed via the turn off by the Post Office.
