History
Probably as old as the nearby covered Market, built some time in the late 19th century. Was originally called the Market Tavern, then the New Market Tavern from 1908 until 1996 when it adopted its current name.there are rumours that the pub is haunted - by someone from the prison/workhouse that preceded the market.

Inside
A pub with character, with little corners to sit in. The very friendly bar staff attracts office workers by day and a mix of regulars and others by night and weekend. And of course sports fans on matchdays, with the Millennium Stadium a short walk away. They serve a good range of fair priced food, and have a 90 capacity function room upstairs.
Real Ales due to be ready by October 2006.
