History

Built in around 1885 as part of Ely Station (the railway line runs along the rear of the car park).

It was originally a coach house, probably becoming a pub when the Ely Brewery started operating next door. Hancocks and then Whitbreads took over teh brewery over the years.

Inside

One of the best hidden pubs in Cardiff, and hence a popular hideaway for knowledgable locals. You can walk almost to the end of Station Terrace before seeing the pub.

An old-fashioned, traditional, Country style pub, with black beams, white walls, orange lights and red curtains, and an enigmatic Manager who has a great rapport with the regulars.

It attracts principally mature adults who appreciate the peaceful atmosphere.
