History

Built in the 14th Century, it has a tunnel under the road to St Isans church opposite. This was confirmed during the 1998 refurbishment, where the 3 separate pub areas were made open plan.

Apparently, Oliver Cromwell once visited the area.

Traipsing Romans heard and observed in the corridor outside the toilets. Their images faded below the knees. Apparently, this was the site of an old Roman Road.

Inside

This lively and sociable Community pub has stood the test of time somewhat. Popular with locals, with the occasional student, it has a centre bar with smoking and non-smoking lounges and a bar, the latter with exposed original walls. Children are allowed in if eating with adults.

Overlooks St Isans church in a picturesque location.
