History

Built in 1872 as a cobblers/coachhouse.

Until the 1960's, had a blacksmiths next door. This was absorbed as an extension as the new Anvil lounge plus music room and snug.

Described as an estate pub, it attracts mostly locals with occasional students. It has a horsehoe bar and pool area to the left, with pastel coloured stain glass door and window.

The large car park at the back is easy to miss - take an immediate left after the pub down a narrow lane.
