History

Built in 1890 as the Four Elms, it was a regular for dockers journeying via Newport Road.

It acquired something of a notorious reputation, which declined in the mid 1990's, when it was revamped and renamed as Yellow Kangeroo.

The past was finally discarded in 2002 when the decor was brightened up as it became Bar YK.

The rear of the pub is listed, being part of the original Coach House.

Inside

The soft pastel decor, with a sprinkling of modern art paintings, and booth type seating gives a bright, comfortable look and feel. Air conditioning takes this a step further.

The large grass garden is one of the best in the area, and great for children.

Meeting on Sundays, the Kangeroo Comedy Club hosts local comedians and heats of UK wide comedy competitions.
