Go is played on a board of horizontal and vertical lines, each player taking turns to place a 'stone' on one of the line intersections. Each player tries to connect these stones into walls around territory. The player at the end of the game with most territory (plus captured enemy stones) wins the game.
Go has proved to be very difficult to computerise. Unlike Chess, use of massively powerful computers is not enough - Go games must use human likes skills of judgement. The best Computer Go game in the World currently plays at the level of an average club player.
